Representando países com logos
16/06/2008 – 16:26
“These are the tourism brands from some countries from all over the world.
Symbol, colors, arrangement, form and typography are elements that can play a role in defining an ownable and memorable brand identity. This sounds straightforward, but many countries with a variety of destinations or rich cultural or geographic assets can’t easily be depicted through one specific icon. Natural characteristics, regional animals or architectural landmarks may not serve as a comprehensive symbolic representation of a nation and all that it offers. Perhaps this is why some countries, as seen in this range of brands, default to their national flag or other abstract elements to create a sense of distinction.
If you know any country brand that isn’t listed here. Let us know!“
edit: Venezuela corrigido. Gracias Cesar Torres.
edit 2: Cyprus, Hungary, Israel, Korea & Taiwan added. Thanks to Mattus.
edit 3: Andalucia, Caribbean, Dominica, Monaco & Scotland added. Thanks to Jeffrey Lin from Green Team.
edit 4: Armenia & Paraguay added. Also, thanks to Mira for Indonesia, Sergio Sanchez for Dominican Republic, obrigado ao Artur pelo do Uruguay.

I think the best one up there is the bahamas and argentina.
Dubai’s is horrible! Trying to make arabic type conform to a heart shape is lame! Qatars kicks ass in comparison, good arabic typography by Tarek Attrissi design from the netherlands.check him out here

Is there one for the United States?
Also, I’d like to add, most of those up there look to be composed of crappy clip art. Especially Canada’s and honestly, what’s with all of the super vivid colour and sloppy brushwork typefaces? Surely ALL international tourist stops can’t be rustic tropical artisans ala the Caribbean.
Love Spain, France, Greece, Qatar, Slovakia, the Bahamas, and Brazil.

Official logo of Czech republic is another one (and much better :), than the one published here. You should definitively have a look. You can see it on official Czech republic pages at http://www.czech.cz/cz/.
But great collection anyway.

Third most visited country in the world. 51 million visitors. Goes to show how utterly useless these logos and the massive bureaucracies behind them are.

Indonesia looks very well executed with the Garuda.

Uruguay
Korea
